Ash Class

Class Teacher: Tracey Dovey

Welcome to Ash Class one of our Key Stage 2 classes here at Littlegreen Academy.

Autumn Term 2025

Ash Class have had an exceptionally productive first week back. We have embraced our school values and met challenges head on. We are getting to know each other and have settled in well to classroom routines and have been busy exploring the school site. Our learning has got off to a great start, in English we have been very creative and have been busy making dragon claws using salt dough along with our won scrapbooks. We have looked at friendship and focused on which values can make us a good friend. We all agreed that someone who makes you smile, and giggle is a must!

Our topic for this term is ‘Back to the Future.’ We will be looking at Dinosaurs and how they roamed the earth then we are going to take a giant leap into the future and look at Robots and AI. This term topic is going to be child- led, we will learn about the things the pupils want to know about. It is going to be an adventure and one which we are very excited about!

Finally, Ash Class have worked hard in all that they do. They have persevered when they have found things hard and felt like giving up. They have been full of ambition for both themselves and others. They have demonstrated great kindness by helping each other with the things they find tricky. They have been courageous when meeting classmates and making new friends. Most of all they are learning to be accepting of each other, and we are incredibly proud of them for that. Well done Ash Class, we are going to have an amazing year!

Autumn Term 2 2025

Ash Class have had such a busy term so far. Pupils have been working hard on their independent writing this week and have produced highly creative and imaginative stories. They have developed a real flair for writing and are never lost for new ideas. As part of exploring different texts and authors we took a trip to Chichester Library. We had a wonderful time looking at all the books and took some back to class for story time. We even got to scan them out ourselves.

Our topic this term has been amazing, we have moved on from our child – led topic on Dinosaurs in Autumn 1 where each pupil took a turn to decide what we learnt about and lead the lesson. We learnt about dinosaurs some of us had never heard about! We have now moved from the past into the future and have begun to look at the role technology has in our lives.  We have looked at robots that can do operations and even had a visit from a wonderful lady called Lisa who has an amazing robotic hand. All the pupils asked so many questions!

Over the next few weeks, we will be predicting what we think comes next. What will the world look like in 2050?

Our Thrive sessions have also been a big hit, and we have made incredible slime, built amazing spaghetti and marshmallow towers, and even made our own fizzy paint. Our curriculum is full and busy and as ever, we continue to demonstrate all of school values in all that we do. We persevere when we find things tricky, we are full of ambition for ourselves and for others, we are courageous when we are unsure and accepting of everyone even when we make mistakes. Most importantly for Ash Class we try to be kind, always.

Spring Term 2026

Ash Class have had a very busy start to term. We have been AMBITIOUS with our writing. In English we have been looking at ‘Ten Tiny Tales’ where we challenge ourselves to tell a whole story using just ten words. This has formed the basis of our Independent Write. It is trickier than it sounds!

In Topic Pupils have shown great PERSERVERNCE exploring ‘Routes and Roots’ We have had great fun going on  walks and visiting local parks using our map skills. We now move on to what grows on the land and how it gets from field to fork. We are very lucky to be surrounded by beautiful farmland so we will be able to see it in action.

Pupils have enjoyed our weekly outings to Fort Purbrook for rock climbing sessions to help to improve our physical fitness. We have been COURAGEOUS tackling pieces of equipment we thought looked tricky but have started to overcome our fears and have great fun. We are now looking forward to our gymnastics session for the second half of the term.

Pupils have loved our Thrive sessions this term and linked them to showing KINDNESS by taking turns and listening to our friends when taking part in our activities. No Thrive session would be complete without making slime. We have been experimenting and trying out different recipes which we have loved. We are looking forward to taking our sessions outside and exploring nature as the weather improves.

Finally, Ash Class continue to blow us all away with their ACCEPTANCE of everyone in our Littlegreen school community. They make us proud every day, well done!
