Welcome to Elm Class
Autumn Term 2024
The pupils in Elm Class have been enthusiastically embracing the start of the new school year! We have enjoyed some fun team building activities in the woods. Along the way, we also learned new vocabulary words like “cunning,” “deceive,” and “nervous,” adding a bit of excitement to our play.
In English, we have been diving into Varjak Paw, an adventurous story about a cat. This week, we focused on writing postcards, but with a twist—we opted to create Facebook posts about our exciting day trips or holidays instead!
In Maths, we have been exploring place value, and I am proud to say that all pupils are showing great perseverance in their learning.
We are also thrilled to kick start our theme, "Turrets, Towers, and Turds." The pupils have been busy designing and constructing their own castles while delving into the history of crime and punishment.
We look forward to an exciting year ahead as we continue our adventures in learning!
Autumn Term 2024 (2)
Elm has had a fantastic Autumn term! The class has successfully navigated the term and bonded well as a team. They have particularly enjoyed their trips, including trips to QE Park, where they had fun traversing down the hill together and sharing lots of games of manhunt in the woods.
Another highlight was their visit to Portchester Castle, where they admired the stunning views from the very top.
A standout memory for everyone was the epic snow day, where they all played outside together, creating unforgettable moments of joy and laughter.
These shared experiences have not only been memorable but have also helped strengthen their sense of community and friendship.

Our young authors have been busy crafting some spine-chilling stories! From mysterious monsters to eerie settings, the gruesome stories written pupils have been absolutely thrilling. It has been wonderful to see their imagination come to life on paper, and we cannot wait to read even more of their fantastic creations.
In maths, Elm class has been working hard to master fractions. Pupils have been showing great progress and developing a real confidence in their skills.
Our Geography topic this term has taken us around the world, with a fascinating focus on the Day of the Dead. We have explored this Mexican tradition, learning about the history, symbols, and cultural significance behind the celebration. It has been a wonderful opportunity to embrace diversity and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures.
As the weather warmed up, Elm class have been enjoying some outdoor time taking part in sports, with rounders being the game of choice! It has been a fantastic way to develop teamwork and physical skills while soaking up the sunshine. The enthusiasm and energy from have made these sessions an absolute highlight of the term.
All in all, it has been an amazing term for Elm class, filled with creativity, learning, and fun. We cannot wait to see what the next term has in store for us!
