Harting Class
Class Teacher: Sharna Capel-Watson
Welcome to Harting Class one of our Key Stage 3 classes here at Littlegreen Academy.
Autumn Term 2025
Harting are off to a fantastic start this school year! The pupils have settled well into upper school and are showing great enthusiasm for their learning across a range of subjects.
In Maths, pupils have been working especially hard, focusing on place value and developing their skills in addition and subtraction. In English, we have been exploring instructional writing, and pupils have done a great job learning how to write clear, step-by-step guides. They put their communication skills to the test through a blind fold challenge. Next, we will be moving on to letter writing – a chance to get creative and practice writing with purpose.
Our History lessons have taken us back to the Tudor times, where we have been learning about past monarchs, including the infamous Henry VIII. We have also begun exploring crime and punishment during this fascinating period. The pupils have been particularly engaged with the dramatic differences from today.
We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead.

Spring Term 2026
Harting Class finished the year on a high before Christmas and enjoyed a fun glow in the dark golf trip as a reward for all their hard work and positive transition into Upper School. Since returning, the class has settled back into routines quickly and had a great start to the term.
Pupils have been especially engaged in English, where they have enjoyed discussing ‘Real Life Mysteries’. This topic will be our focus over the next few weeks and will help them develop their report writing skills.
In Maths, we have continued practising multiplication to build confidence and fluency.
In Humanities, the pupils are excited to begin learning about the multiple causes of World War I and World War II, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion already.

Spring Term 2 2026
Harting Class have enjoyed a term full of new adventures and brilliant learning moments!
In Maths, pupils have been exploring fractions, gaining confidence in recognising, comparing, and using them in different ways.
In English, we have been diving into the magical world of fairytales. Pupils have enjoyed looking closely at what makes a strong beginning, middle, and end to a story, and they have been practising using conjunctions to extend their sentences and make their writing more exciting and detailed.
In Humanities, the class has been investigating urbanisation and how it affects cities in high, middle, and low-income countries. They have asked thoughtful questions, compared different places around the world, and discussed why people might choose to move to busy, growing cities. Their curiosity has led to some brilliant conversations.
In PE, one of the absolute highlights has been mountain biking at Fort Purbrook. Each week they have shown growing confidence, improving their balance, control,
and riding skills.
Their teamwork, encouragement of one another, and willingness to give things a go has made the sessions a joy to watch.
