At Littlegreen Academy, we provide opportunities for all pupils to be able to develop and progress their numeracy skills in the key areas identified in the National curriculum. We enable them to reason, solve problems and develop fluency within both mathematical contexts and everyday practical situations. We also enable pupils to experience a sense of awe and wonder as they solve a problem for the first time, discover different solutions and make links between different areas of mathematics and real life. We strive for excellence in mathematics achievement throughout the school and strive to develop pupil’s abilities within a cross curricular programme.
Across all classes, pupils are given opportunities to develop their maths fluency, ability to reason mathematically and to solve problems, within a balanced and exciting curriculum using the White Rose maths framework.
Learning is sequential and pupils learn at their own pace, with their needs accounted for each step of the way.
Pupils in KS2 have the opportunity to sit their SATs examinations and further up the school, pupils in KS4 will have the opportunity to leave school wither either and Entry Level qualification in mathematics or an AQA GCSE 9-1 in mathematics.
Most importantly, at Littlegreen, we recognise that skill in maths is essential to a happy, healthy and independent adulthood and strive to prepare our pupils for this.
Pupils at Littlegreen Academy will:
- develop a positive and confident attitude to mathematics
- make an active contribution to their own learning, by developing the skills of independence and enquiry
- become confident and competent working with mathematics
