Music
Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thoughtE Y Harburg
We are bringing music alive at Littlegreen!
We have some very talented musicians at Littlegreen both pupils and staff. We also have lots of people who are interested in music and enjoy both listening and playing.
Music is very important to us, we see music is a magical gift through which we can not only develop musical ability but also use it to support our pupils’ personal, social and emotional development and to develop their cultural awareness. Music is also a great way to connect with and help children in the development of their communication.
The music curriculum is developing along with performing arts. All pupils have access to music lessons either as a class, a small group or individually. We are developing our use of IPads which allows everyone to create really interesting performance pieces and also to make up their own music. Music technology will continue to be an important part of music lessons at Littlegreen.
For the majority of pupils these sessions are planned as part of the themed based curriculum. The small group and individual sessions are tailored specifically to pupil need and their personalised programmes. Pupils can benefit in a range of ways by:
- becoming more self aware
- able to identify and express their feelings
- improve their emotional well-being
- improve concentration and attention
- increase self confidence, self esteem and motivation
- develop independence
- interact effectively with others
- enjoyment and relaxation
