Music
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. For many pupils, the music they love will be part of the narrative of their lives and bring colour to the experiences that shape them. Learning about music is a vital part of a broad and rounded education. Taught well, music gives pupils the opportunity to make music, think more musically and, crucially, become even more musical.
Ofsted 2023
As it stands, Music is taught as an addition to a broader curriculum here at Littlegreen Academy. Pupils have access to varied sessions with:
Craig Mallis (Music Lead)
Anna Macken (Music Therapist)
Luke Avis (Choir Master)
Louie (Resident Rapper)
Craig offers the pupils a chance to hone their band skills, focusing on the “bread and butter” of popular music. Drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals. Pupils begin to explore what it is to be a working musician, developing their interpersonal and ensemble skills.
Anna facilitates a therapeutic and pupil led outlet, enabling pupils to express themselves in a safe and 1:1 environment. This offers a unique chance to explore the elements of music whilst making new decisions about things we like or dislike.
Luke is the newest addition to the Music department and has landed with a bang, establishing The Littlegreen Academy Choir. The pupils are working hard exploring their voices and newfound confidence.
Louie, Rapper, has been helping the pupils express themselves through the written word, creating personal poetry accompanied by beats.
Learning how to perform is a crucial part of any young learners journey and here at Littlegreen, we are very pleased to announce that we have secured an annual residency with the Ovation Rock Music Show.
