Human Library

Lisa - a community development officer at East Hampshire District Council where she has worked for 17 years in various job roles.
As well as her day job Lisa a UNISON rep and disability activist, campaigning for fair and equal opportunities for everyone in the workplace. Lisa represented the UK at the United Nations in New York and Geneva giving a voice to young people.
On Friday, we were lucky to welcome Lisa as part of our Human Library project. Lisa was born without the lower part of her arm and now uses a bionic hand. Lisa opened up about her experiences and encouraged our pupils to ask questions freely. This gave them a wonderful opportunity to challenge assumptions, learn through curiosity, and understand more about Lisa and her story.
Pupils were inspired by Lisa’s openness, confidence, and positivity—a powerful reminder that we are all alike in some ways, yet wonderfully different in others.
Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your story and how your bionic hand works! 💚
